California Apartment Association Donates to Help Club

The California Apartment Association recently made a $300,000 donation of capital improvements to the Salesian Boys & Girls Clubs in Boyle Heights.

The California Apartment Association has selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of America – L.A. County Alliance as their charity partner. With over 70% of LA residents living in apartments the Association wants to help assure Boys & Girls Clubs can provide safe, fun places for our youth.

Disney Benefits LA Alliance Clubs through Pirates of the Caribbean Event

Disney sold opening night movie tickets to "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" to the public. They sold out in just 4 days. Thanks to the ticket sales, Disney gave $5,000 to all L.A. County and Orange County Clubs.

Bank of America Gives Clubs Scholarship Grant at Dodger Stadium

Each Alliance Club will receive $3,500 to support their after-school educational and arts programs and Bank of America will be the Title Sponsor for the LA County Youth of the Year program.

“We believe in the Boys & Girls Clubs and wanted to make this a special day for Club Members,” said Keith Drake, Bank of America representative and Challengers Boys & Girls Club board member and alum.

Garrett Gin, Senior Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility for Bank of America said, “The Boys & Girls Clubs in Los Angeles County play a critical role in the lives of more than 100,000 underserved youth. Bank of America knows that the Boys & Girls Clubs will fully maximize our grant dollars and volunteer resources to leverage the most for these kids, who go on to graduate high school at greater levels than the national average. We are proud of our small role in the greater ongoing impact these Clubs make on lives and communities. “

Disney Invites Club Members to ESPN X-Games 17

On Thursday, July 28, nearly 1,000 Club members attended the ESPN X-Games, courtesy of Disney and ESPN! These lucky Club members got to attend opening day of the X-Games at LA Live at Staples Center.

Special Projects

Cal South Soccer Since the spring of 2010, Cal South Soccer has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America – LA County Alliance to engage more youth from the Boyle Heights community in soccer.  With four Clubs near Boyle Heights, Cal South helped train coaches and kids and donated more than 400 soccer uniforms and equipment to these Clubs to enable them to have a “professional feel” when they play.  Club members were also treated to tickets to watch the LA Chivas soccer team play.  Thanks to Cal South, many new young people have joined the Club to play soccer.  Thank you, Cal South, for helping keep our members healthy and active!
Six Flags Magic Mountain Since the 2000 holidays, Six Flags/Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor of Valencia, CA teamed up with KTLA to encourage patrons of the park to donate toys for the holidays. During this four-day period in December, the guests'generosity secures over $150,000 worth of gifts for Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs in L.A. County, which are then delivered by UPS!
Jakks-Pacific In the Fall of 2010, Jakks Pacific surprised the Boys & Girls Clubs from San Diego to Santa Barbara with a donation of over 100,000 Halloween costumes! Then, in 2011, they donated additional costumes to Clubs in L.A. County and lots of toys for the Clubs' holiday parties. In 2011, Jakks Pacific also became the stage sponsor of the L.A. County Youth of the Year Event!
