"The Club Has a Special Place in My Heart"
Aaliyah has been involved in numerous activities at the Club, including the Hip Hop class, Level 2 and 3 dance classes, acting classes and has been active in Club leadership. She has been the Secretary of our sports leadership program, the “Swoosh Club,” a member of Keystone Club, a host for our T.V. show “My Life/My Conflicts,” and a volunteer with the Teen Program.
Through the Club, Aaliyah has had so many opportunities she would not have had through other afterschool programs. Last year alone, Aaliyah competed in a national competition to perform in New York for Boys & Girls Club of America’s National Conference and performed the opening act for the RAW Artists Awards in Hollywood. In addition, she recently received a commendation from the Mayor.
Even through all of her successes, Aaliyah has managed to stay humble and supportive of her peers. Regardless of the activity, Aaliyah strives for the best and gives 110%.
The Club’s professional staff agrees that Aaliyah is always willing to try a new activity or participate in something she has never done before. She is a great example for other Members to follow!
From leadership to sports and even dance, Aaliyah loves it all. In Aaliyah’s eyes, there is something for everyone at the Boys & Girls Club!
