“Gerardo is an inspiration to all around him. He is representative of what the Club is all about. When youth are provided with guidance and opportunities, no obstacle will stand in the way of their success,” said Kim Richards, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson.
Gerardo is a leader at his Club. He participates in Career Launch, the Keystone Club, countless community service projects, food drives, Red Ribbon Week, Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day, Nickelodeon World Wide Day of Play, etc. He has contributed hundreds of hours of community service, worked three jobs and still managed to achieve academic excellence! He will graduate from high school this summer then plans to attend college in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In his community, Rodriguez serves as a Youth Commissioner for the City of Carson, where he is responsible for advising the city council on the planning and development of youth facilities, program, and services.
In addition to community service, Gerardo is a gifted musician. In addition to playing and practicing guitar, he volunteers his time at the Club teaching guitar lessons.
